BAKERSFIELD, Calif., March 28, 2011—SolarCity®, the largest installer of residential solar power in Kern County, today announced that it has opened an operations center in Bakersfield. The company has hired 20 local residents to staff the new 11,780-square-foot facility and has more than 200 solar installations completed or underway in the area.
SolarCity is the only full service solar provider in California offering solar power financing, design, installation, monitoring, repair and energy efficiency services from a single source. SolarCity provides customers with affordable financing options including its SolarLease® option which allows customers to pay less for solar power than they previously paid for electricity.
“By offering Bakersfield homeowners an affordable way to go solar, we’re able to help them save on their electric bill and power their home with renewable energy,” said SolarCity regional director Dennis Cox. “As the demand grows, so does our business and the number of local jobs we create.”
SolarCity is offering energy efficiency services to area homeowners in addition to solar power. In addition to an energy efficiency audit, homeowners also have the option to purchase a Home Efficiency Package that includes a home energy evaluation, air and duct sealing, pipe insulation, a programmable thermostat and efficient light bulbs. As part of evaluation, customers will receive a full report that shares energy efficiency findings within the home and identifies the areas of opportunity based on the best return on the homeowner’s investment. Additional energy efficiency services offered at an additional cost include insulation, heating and cooling, water heating and pool pumps.
