Renewable Energy World Recognizes SolarCity with Business & Finance Innovation of the Year Award

SolarCity’s affordable financing options were selected from hundreds of finalists for prestigious award

SAN MATEO, Calif., Mar. 10, 2011—SolarCity®, the nation’s leading provider of solar power financing, design, installation, monitoring and energy efficiency services, today announced that its affordable financing options have been recognized by the editors of Renewable Energy World as the 2011 Business and Finance Innovation of the Year. SolarCity was recognized with one of the publication’s Excellence in Renewable Energy Awards at the Renewable Energy World Conference and Expo in Tampa, Florida March 8th-9th.

“SolarCity has done as much as any company in the world to move distributed solar power forward,” said Oliver Strube, publisher of Renewable Energy World. “The company’s unique full-service model creates a one-stop-shop for homeowners and businesses, and its revolutionary lease financing allows them to pay less for solar than they pay for electricity from the grid.”

“It’s a great honor to be recognized by Renewable Energy World; a publication that follows our industry so closely,” said Lyndon Rive, SolarCity’s CEO. “We hope this award will help us spread the word that it’s possible for businesses and homeowners to switch to solar and save money from day one in a growing number of communities across the U.S.”

Earlier this year SolarCity undertook a massive expansion on the East Coast to create the largest residential solar installation footprint in the U.S. SolarCity also undertook a large-scale integration of solar power and energy efficiency services in 2010, and the U.S. Department of Energy named the company a Green Power Supplier of the Year.
