SAN MATEO, Calif., Feb 9, 2011— SolarCity®, a national leader in solar power financing, design, installation, monitoring and energy efficiency services, today announced that Mark Roe has joined the company as vice president of operations. Roe joins SolarCity from Apple, Inc. where he was senior director of worldwide service. He will report to COO Peter Rive. Roe joins the nation’s largest solar service provider on the heels of its first East Coast expansion, and the creation of a new residential solar fund with Citi.

As senior director of worldwide services, Roe oversaw Apple’s global service operations including new product introductions, technical training, field support and feedback, service engineering, strategic sourcing, planning and procurement, field service, Apple Retail service, depot repair operation, and service warehousing and logistics. Roe helped increase Apple’s revenue by a factor of five during his five-year tenure, and helped increase the company’s industry-best lead in customer satisfaction.

Prior to Apple, Roe was vice president of customer satisfaction and quality at Palm, where he was responsible for channel management, customer service and product quality. He earned his bachelor’s of science in industrial engineering and operations research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a master of business administration in marketing and finance from Syracuse University.
