SolarCity Unveils Larger Sacramento Operations Facility, Launches Energy Efficiency Offering
Sacramento homeowners can take advantage of energy efficiency rebates of up to $5,000
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 20, 2011—SolarCity® today announced that it has expanded into a new operations center in Sacramento and is now offering energy efficiency services to area homeowners in addition to solar power. The company has more than doubled its local facility space to 15,000 square feet, helping support SolarCity’s growing business in Sacramento and the surrounding area.
Homeowners interested in energy efficiency can purchase a home energy efficiency package. The package includes a home energy evaluation, air and duct sealing, pipe insulation, a programmable thermostat and efficient light bulbs. As part of evaluation, customers will receive a full report that shares energy efficiency findings within the home and identifies the areas of opportunity based on the best return on the homeowner’s investment. Additional energy efficiency services offered at an additional cost include insulation, heating and cooling, water heating and pool pumps. SolarCity was recently selected to complete a community program pilot project in Sacramento’s Arden Park neighborhood in partnership with ConSol. Demand for energy efficiency services in Sacramento has been driven by energy efficiency rebates of up to $5,000 from the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and $4,000 from Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E).
“Since 2007, we’ve undertaken more than 700 solar projects in the Sacramento area, ranging from major manufacturing facilities and retail outlets, to hundreds of residential projects,” said SolarCity regional director Dennis Cox. “Sacramento is an ideal market for energy efficiency – homeowners have access to some of the best rebates and incentives, and have an opportunity to reduce their electric bill in more ways than one.”
With SolarCity’s energy efficiency services, homeowners can reduce air borne particulates and improve home air quality through the filtration for forced air systems, duct sealing and air sealing. Existing leaks in a garage, crawl space or attic can lead to poor air leaking into the home. SolarCity’s energy efficiency services can significantly improve indoor air quality.
The company is expected to hire an additional 25 employees over the next few months.
