LOS ANGELES — SolarCity (NASDAQ: SCTY) is again expanding its services to homeowners and businesses in the Los Angeles region with a new 20,000-square-foot operations center in Atwater Village. More than 150 employees at the new operations center bring the company’s total Los Angeles area workforce to more than 500, and to more than 2,000 across Southern California. The company is actively hiring additional installers, sales and support staff in the area as well.
"Rooftop solar means steady jobs, cleaner air, less water use, and a cost-effective way for Angelenos to generate their own clean energy—all while helping LA meet our ambitious but achievable goals laid out in my Sustainable City pLAn,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti.
SolarCity makes it possible for many California homeowners to go solar with no upfront cost and immediately pay less for solar than they would otherwise pay for power from their utility. SolarCity’s innovative and cost effective approach to solar has made the company the #1 solar provider across the U.S. The company now serves Southern California from 13 operations centers including Atwater Village, Hawthorne, and San Fernando Valley locations in the Los Angeles area.
"I want to welcome SolarCity to the vibrant mix of industries along the Los Angeles River in Atwater Village," said Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell who represents the 13th Council District. "SolarCity will bring 21st century clean energy jobs to the area, as well as help Angelenos conserve power, save money, and take part in a sustainable future."
The Atwater Village center expects to add another 80 employees by the end of the year in sales and operations roles. SolarCity will post future employment opportunities in Atwater Village and across the U.S., where the company serves 18 states from more than 80 operations centers, at www.solarcity.com/jobs.
