SolarCity ranks 18th in employee satisfaction out of more than 280,000 companies in Glassdoor database
Dec 11, 2013

San Mateo, Calif., Dec. 11, 2013 — SolarCity (NASDAQ: SCTY), a leading provider of clean energy, has been honored with the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award as one of the Top 20 Best Places to Work in 2014. The award, which honors 50 companies overall, relies solely on the input of employees who provide feedback on their jobs and work environments via Glassdoor’s anonymous online company review surveys.
“We work very hard to create a positive work environment, but the truth is that SolarCity’s people make the company a great place to work,” said SolarCity’s EVP of Human Resources, Linda Keala. “We hear all the time that our employees particularly enjoy working at SolarCity thanks to their amazing colleagues. Changing the status quo is fun, and our employees are so passionate about what they do – we’re able to keep our vibrant company culture strong while hiring hundreds of new employees each year.”
SolarCity is the top full-service solar provider in the United States with more than 4,000 employees in positions ranging from engineers to sales representatives to solar installers. SolarCity’s employee base has grown more than 100 percent annually since its founding in 2006. The company currently has over 550 open positions nationally, and expects to hire hundreds more employees in 2014. Job seekers can find additional details and apply at SolarCityCareers.com.
“Glassdoor is working to create greater workplace transparency and is committed to helping people find jobs they love,” said Glassdoor CEO & Co-founder Robert Hohman. “Through the Employees’ Choice Awards, we aim to highlight those employers that excel in keeping employees satisfied and engaged.”
The Glassdoor company review survey includes both quantitative and qualitative questions designed to capture a genuine and authentic inside look at what it’s like to work at particular jobs and companies. The survey asks employees to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation and benefits, work/life balance, senior management, as well as culture and values. In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their company as well as any downsides.
The 50 Best Places to Work are determined using company reviews shared by U.S. based employees who elected to participate in the survey between November 14, 2012 and November 12, 2013. To be considered for the Best Places to Work list, a company must have at least 1,000 or more employees and have received at least 50 approved company reviews during the window of eligibility. The final list is compiled based on Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, and takes into account quantity, quality and consistency of reviews.
