Site Auditor Assistant

Assist the Site Auditor in providing professional site auditing services to gather and communicate the necessary technical data to the SOLARCITY design team for the preparation of permit ready documents to facilitate the installation of solar photovoltaic.
Responsibilities
- Meet with customers to obtain information necessary to complete technical design documents for a photovoltaic system.
- Develop a positive relationship with customers to establish rapport and to gather facilities assessment data.
- Assist in the preparation of site audit documents as needed to coordinate with the SolarCity engineering department to produce permit-ready documents.
- Assist the Site Auditor in completing the physical site audit using the tools, to include but not limited to, Tablet PC, measuring devices, Solmetric equipment, digital camera, and tools/equipment needed to access the electrical equipment.
- Work under the guidance of the Site Auditor to establish roof access and create a safe working environment on rooftops. This requires extensive knowledge of OSHA’s fall protection regulations and completion of SOLARCITY’S Fall Protection training program.
- Ensure the Site Auditor has all the necessary tools and equipment to successfully perform the audits. This involves researching the jobs prior to the site visit to determine the tools and equipment needed for the day.
- Drive the company vehicle from site to site so the auditor can continue to work during transportation.
Requirements
- Education and/or Experience: Experience in the solar photovoltaic industry is recommended. Associates Degree preferred and on the job training in a discipline related to construction, engineering, or architecture.
- Language Skills: The ability to understand, read and speak the English language. Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications. Ability to stay organized and maintain project records.
- Mathematical Skills: The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to develop basic formulas typically used and commuted in the construction industry.
- Computer Skills: Medium computer skills needed with the ability to perform word processing, spread sheets and data base management functions on a personal computer and/or laptop computer. Ability to learn SOLARCITY’S proprietary software.
- Technical Skills: The ability to draw legibly the basic layout for a house and roof system. The ability to read plans, measuring devices, diagrams, equipment submittals and material data sheets. Knowledge of construction sequencing, construction methods and materials practices.
- Reasoning Ability: The ability to apply commonsense to the site audit process in written, oral and diagrammatical form. Ability to evaluate problems and reason with the Site Auditor to resolve problems. Ability to follow directions and work within a team environment.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Provide and maintain a current Driver’s License to safely operate a company vehicle.
- Experience with Energy Efficiency a plus
- Clean DMV record- ex: no DUI within the last 5 years
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, comfortably lift 40+ pounds repetitively, and must be able to work on your feet for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in extreme environments, e.g. hot sun, below freezing, crawl spaces, etc.
