 The primary role of the Sales Engineer is to win business by providing outstanding support to the Commercial Sales Team and corporate clients.  Sales Engineers are customer facing subject matter experts who support all technical and pricing aspects of commercial sales activity for PV solar systems.   Sales Engineers also fulfill a cross functional role in the company, coordinating sales activities with Finance, Legal, Operations and Design Engineering departments. 

Focus Area

Commercial and government clients in Southern California.   PV solar installations ranging in size from 100kW – 5MW. 

Responsibilities

·        Coordinate with customer facilities managers, engineers and other technical personnel.  Customer facing presentation of sales proposals. 

·        Provide build cost estimation and competitive pricing for commercial PV solar projects.

·        Create PV Solar System designs and professional quality renderings for inclusion in customer proposals.

·        Perform detailed cost benefit analysis of available products, installation options and new technologies. 

·        Detailed modeling of PV solar system production and ROI.

·        Audit sites for PV solar installation suitability, cost considerations, environmental limitations, structural limitations etc. 

·        Contribute professional quality proposal content for technically complex, multi-site PV solar installations. 

·        Proactively maintain the competitiveness of the company’s offerings. Ongoing and in depth research on new products and technologies.

·        Present complex data and concepts in a manner that is intuitively understood by customers.

·        Regularly evaluate actual job costs and market factors affecting pricing. 

·        Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. 

Requirements

·        2+ Years of Commercial, Enterprise or Government customer facing sales engineering or technical sales experience.

·        Advanced MS Office and general computer skills.

·        Advanced data analysis skills.

·        Advanced energy production/efficiency modeling tools skills (PVWatts, PVsyst, etc.).

·        High level of proficiency with AutoCAD, Sketchup or similar image manipulation program.

·        Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

·        2+ years of general construction, electrical, renewable energy or energy efficiency experience. 

·        2+ years solar PV installation, design or technical sales experience.

·        General construction project management experience.

·        Relevant industry certification (Electrician, NABCEP, LEED, etc).

·        BS Engineering degree or technical/scientific curriculum.
